Teams compete for points and event spirit, which are recognized at the awards ceremony.

Navigator Series – Teams navigate to a series of location using their Royal Rally passport to obtain stamps along the route. Each stamp will be only be available for a certain period of time. Teams must solve clues to determine the location of each passport stamp along the route. PASSPORT CHALLENGE: JULY 6

Calgary – Banff Springs – Calgary (450km loop)

Event Class: Navigator Series

Get ready for something completely different! Introducing Royal Rally’s new event class, the Navigator Series! Our first Navigator Series event, Royal Rally – Passport, will take place on Saturday, July 6th and here’s how it’ll work. Teams will receive a Royal Rally passport at the start of their adventure. Your passport contains a list of locations (towns, cities or districts) and clues to the specific location of a Royal Rally crew member, who will stamp your passport to confirm you visited that location. Each passport stamp is only available within a certain time-frame. Miss the window and that stamp is no longer available. Teams must solve clues on the road to determine where and how to find each passport stamp. Teams will regroup at the finish line and will hand in their passport to Royal Rally’s check-in crew, who will present teams who received all passport stamps with an award. This year, the Passport Challenge will take teams from Calgary to the Banff Springs Hotel in the Canadian Rockies, for their famous brunch, and back to Calgary, on a 450km route, for a buffet dinner.

10th Annual Calgary Icebreaker Polar Dip | House of Cars

On New Year’s Day, in front of hundreds of spectators and multiple media outlets over 100 Dipsters clad in
creative costumes will jump into a large hole cut out of a frozen lake to raise critical awareness and funds for the global epidemic of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

House of Cars is proud to be a participant and donor for this great cause, and here's why.

- Today, 45 million people live in slavery, more than any other time in history.
- 80% of trafficked victims are female, 50% are children. 77% are trafficked for sex slavery.
- The average age victims are coerced into a life of sexual exploitation in Canada is 13.

The Icebreaker Polar Dip truly helps make a difference, and we have some fun while we're doing it! Take a look at some of the brave House of Cars souls that made it into the icy waters last year.

About The Calgary Icebreaker Polar Dip:
Founded by the philanthropic volunteer group Old Guys in Action, the Calgary Icebreaker has raised hundreds
of thousands of dollars over its ten year history and has brought the issue of human trafficking and sexual
exploitation to the forefront, giving Canadians a practical and immediate way to respond.

Click here to learn more about the the group Old Guys in Action.

The next Polar Dip will be held on January 1, 1pm at the Mahogany Home Owner’s Association Beach Club in Calgary, Alberta.

House of Cars Medicine Hat Helping The Community

House of Cars is known for it's involvement in the community, and Mark, the owner of the Medicine Hat location is no exception! In September House of Cars Medicine Hat gave the community an opportunity to nominate two kids for credit towards a sport or activity of their choice. They received hundreds of nominations! Good job Mark and team!

But it didn't end there! The team decided to help another 4 kids on top of the two they originally planned for. Now that's what I call generosity.

The nominated kids were announced at the end of the month. They were very excited to start their sports and activities. Congratulations everyone that was chosen and thank you to those who took the time to nominate someone they love.

Royal Rally

House of Cars is a proud sponsor of the Royal Rally!

Check out the new video by Royal Rally below!

The Royal Rally is not just a road trip with a group of nice cars. It's the epitome of adventure! And you can't have an adventure without it's challenges.

We bring together a group of enthusiasts and put them through what Royal Rally calls "a supercharged scavenger-hunt on wheels."

Teams are given route cards with checkpoints, activities and other adventure driven challenges. They must complete each challenge to earn points by solving questions, taking photos and completing bonus tasks for additional points. At the end, the team with the most points wins the first, second or third place trophies!

Teams are also awarded for other things, such as uniqueness, team themes, teamwear and much more! The most memorable teams get to take home the Royal Rally Spirit Award.

Yes, the cars are fast, but racing is not the purpose of the Royal Rally. In fact, teams are penalized for racing and arriving too early to checkpoints. Speeding and reckless driving are not tolerated by Royal Rally.

So now that you know more about the Royal Rally, be sure to follow both Royal Rally & House of Cars on Facebook to be notified of the next kick off event!

Backpacks for YYC’s Homeless: Our 2015 Christmas Charity Event

Our Story

Backpacks for YYC's HomelessOn Sunday, December 13th 2015, our House Of Cars staff headed to downtown Calgary, AB on a mission to hand out 50 backpacks to some of the city’s less fortunate. Split up into three teams, our staff hand delivered each bag to the ‘lucky’ individuals who were picked at complete random. With GoPro cameras on hand, we were able to capture some of the incredible moments/interactions along with some testimonials of those who were willing to share their stories of what everyday life is like for them on the streets, particularly during the Christmas holiday. Meeting all types of people from all areas of life, our staff felt empowered to help make a difference in the lives of complete strangers – even if it meant for just one day.

We headed out to a few big-time retailers to grab 50 of each item for packing our bags. Each backpack was filled with necessity items (along with some extra goodies!) such as:

  • Travel-Sized Toiletries
  • Tooth Brushes
  • Gloves and Toques
  • Socks
  • Hand Warmers & Feet Warmers
  • BandAids
  • Sanitary Wipes
  • Tissue Packs
  • Subway Gift Cards
  • Cough Drops
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Treats/Sweets
  • …and more!

Along with these items, each staff member wrote out a small note of encouragement to place into the bags, as well. We wanted to add something personal to uplift the spirits of each individual to make their Christmas a little more special. Once we had the backpacks assembled, it was time to hand them out!

A Big Thanks to Our Team!

We are so proud of our House Of Cars family for participating in this event and would like to thank every one of our staff who took their Sunday off work to come out and lend a helping hand! Without you all, this day wouldn’t have been possible. Another big thanks goes out to all who were able to help out with the planning of the event and/or the assembling of the backpacks: Justin Klee for organizing the event, Nadeem Malik for your help with providing contacts and for lending a hand shopping for supplies, David Wong for your help in shopping for supplies, as well…and last but not least, Hassen Assaf & Mark Terrio-Cameron for helping put the bags together.

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s important for everyone to understand that there are many individuals out there who are struggling and won’t have an opportunity to celebrate Christmas with a nice family dinner or a warm place to sleep. If you or someone you know is looking to donate or help out on your own, reach out to one of your city’s drop-in centers or check out your local listings for volunteer work…or, do it on your own! A small effort really can go a long way.
