How to lower your car insurance rates without losing coverage

Looking for a car that won't be expensive to insure? House of Cars used car dealership fits every need and budget.

After deciding on the car you want and finding a financing plan that works for you, the next step is usually car insurance. And if you've ever shopped around for car insurance, then you know that rates can vary greatly between companies.

So how can you lower your car insurance rate without sacrificing coverage? We're here to help!

1. Shop Around

The best way to ensure that you’re getting the best deal on car insurance is to shop around. This means looking at multiple providers and comparing their rates and coverage options side-by-side.

Don’t be afraid to negotiate with each provider; they may be willing to offer a better rate if you can show them that another company is offering a lower one.

2. Increase Your Deductible

Raising your deductible is one of the easiest ways to reduce your monthly premium costs. A higher deductible means less risk for the insurer, which translates into a lower premium for you.

Just make sure that whatever amount you choose isn’t too high—you don’t want it to be so high that it would be difficult for you to pay out of pocket in the event of an accident or other covered incident.

3. Bundle Policies Together

Many insurers offer discounts when customers bundle their policies together, such as auto and home insurance, or auto and life insurance policies with the same company.

By bundling these policies together, not only will you save money on your premiums, but you'll also have just one company handling all of your insurance needs—which makes managing your policies much easier!

4. Improve Your Driving Skills

This is not an immediate solution to high insurance rates, but will serve as a great contributing solution in the long run. So, it’s best to sharpen those skills starting now.

By improving your driving skills and following the speed limits, in turn you’ll also improve your driving record. If you’ve got too many slip ups, expect to pay for it with your hard earned money flying out the door.

Don’t forget to call around once a year (as your driving record improves) to see if anyone is willing to give you a lower rate. This is also a good opportunity to negotiate with your current insurance provider.
