Chevrolet Equinox:
If you’re looking for an excellent compact SUV, the Equinox should be one you add to your shopping list.
New or used, the Equinox is priced just right, starting at $25,800. Think of the Chevrolet Equinox as an alternative to small SUVs like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-30.
The Chevrolet Equinox has ample passenger room, a feature-laden infotainment system, and athletic handling. While all-wheel drive is optional, all Equinox models are powered by the same turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox is a pretty good compact SUV. The Equinox has a roomy five-seat interior, a user-friendly infotainment system, and a decent array of standard safety features.
It's comfortable to drive on less-than-perfect pavement, and it's pretty easy to maneuver around town. The Equinox also rates highly for predicted reliability.
Subaru Outback:
Its raised suspension and plastic body cladding scream "active lifestyle," but it delivers a more carlike feel from behind the wheel.
Buyers can choose from either a turbocharged or non-turbo four-cylinder engine, both standard with all-wheel drive.
A sturdy roof rack offers a handy place for bikes or a kayak without the extra-tall stance of an SUV, which enables effortless loading and unloading.
The Outback lineup features a pair of flat-four-cylinder engines: a 182-hp 2.5-litre is standard, and a 260-hp turbocharged 2.4-litre is optional. Both mate to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that mimics an eight-speed gearbox to mitigate annoying engine drones.
With 8.7 inches of ground clearance and all-wheel drive, the wagon can easily navigate inclement weather and even muddy, rutted roads. The Outback's suspension provides a docile ride, and its steering is accurate and easy to manage on the highway.
GMC Sierra:
The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup is as capable and versatile as it ever was. But now, it's considerably fancier and packed with more high-tech features.
The addition of Super Cruise means the truck can be driven hands-free, too. The 2022 Sierra 1500 offers a strong selection of engines, including a 420-hp V-8 and a diesel six-cylinder with 460 pound-feet of torque. The mightiest model can tow up to 13,200 pounds.
You can fit the GMC with a multi-camera system that has views where the driver can virtually see through a trailer if they're pulling one. It can be equipped with GM's Super Cruise hands-free-driving tech, which operates on a vast network of roads across the country and can even be used with a trailer attached.
Inside, the Sierra is designed with the driver in mind. The controls are all easy to reach, and the quality of the materials generally increases with the trim levels. Spending big on the upper trims unlocks desirable features, including a heads-up display and a power-adjustable steering column.
The front seats also feature 16-way power adjustments as well as massage functions. Interior cubby storage is more than adequate for storing small items and stuff.
Jeep Wrangler:
The iconic off-roader sports a retro exterior style that pays homage to the rugged Jeep. Still, it's packed with modern conveniences, including touchscreen infotainment, cruise control, and an eight-speaker stereo.
Up-level trims can be downright luxurious, with leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, in-dash navigation, onboard Wi-Fi, and a power-operated soft top.
A host of powertrains are offered, including a plug-in hybrid one and a red hot 6.4-litre V-8. But no matter which engine is under the hood, the Wrangler comes standard with four-wheel drive.
The Wrangler is available in three 4×4 systems to help you handle any unpredictable conditions. With a high air intake, sealed electrical connections, and moisture-resistant body opening, the Jeep can easily cross creeks, streams, and even puddles.
According to Jeep, the Wrangler can drive over logs, rocks, or anything else that may be on the trail with its ground clearance and underbody skid plates.
Toyota Camry:
The Camry has aged well. It started life as a compact Sedan but is now a stylish midsize car with several distinct versions, including a hybrid and a gasoline-only V6.
We like the XSE V6 for a combination of sport and comfort.
The standard, albeit humdrum, four-cylinder engine is economical and acceptable for daily driver duty. It has a full suite of standard active safety features and goodwill generated by decades of proven reliability.
It has a Rigid Body Structure, Enhanced Aerodynamics and offers the Quietest Ride by far. The Upscale Interior and Advanced Instrumentation with Intuitive Controls help keep the driver safely focused on the road.
Beneath the bolder body lines, the Camry’s Body Structure has been bolstered with additional Spot Welds to enhance Rigidity. Refined Suspension Systems in all models put an edge on Handling Agility while taking the edge off of bumps.
